GTApreneurs was founded as a sole proprietorship in 2019 by Tammy Defoe, offering public speaking courses, in-person business networking events and guest speaker opportunities.

We launched our first Exclusive Business Coaching & Referral Networking Group in March 2020, mostly online, during COVID and transitioned our business networking events online as well.

In February 2021 Tammy began offering 1-1 business coaching services and incorporated GTApreneurs to form GTApreneurs Inc. in May of the same year.

In January 2022 we started offering website development and SEO services in conjunction with our SEO Specialist and offered that service until August 2025.

In 2023, we launched our website directory which you can find on our homepage, we began offering networking event memberships and we launched our first Newmarket Business Networking Event.

GTApreneurs Inc. moved into its new official homebase at the Improve Canada Centre in Vaughan in January 2024 and in April 2024, Tammy officially received the Canadian trademark registration for “GTApreneurs.” 2024 was a very big year for us as we launched our first annual business expo and conference called, GTAbizX. We renamed it to BizX for our 2025 expo and we will continue with that name for our future business expos. *Mark your calendar for October every year for this huge event where hundreds of entrepreneurs and small business owners come together to learn, network, promote their business while enjoying a beautiful event venue and a delicious breakfast and lunch buffet (VIPs).

In 2025 we launched our first downtown Toronto Business Networking event and it has been going very well, and like our other networking events brings in new people to GTApreneurs business community, growing our following to thousands of entrepreneurs from the GTA.

Now it is 2026, and we are expanding again – why stop now? Stay tuned for new business networking events in Pickering, Brampton and Mississauga this year and several new Exclusive Referral Networking Groups. Jump on board our exclusive groups as soon as possible as space is limited!

About Tammy Defoe

Tammy Defoe is a Business Consultant and Coach, specializing in Sales, Business Development, Public Speaking and Digital Marketing Training. In addition to coordinating and hosting GTApreneurs events and groups, she onboards and interviews our Guest Speakers, creates all of our website and blog post content, creates most of the graphics we use to promote our events, creates our contracts, manages our support staff, provides 1-1 and group business coaching, coaching and training services, and of course connects our network with each other for the products and services they need and want.

Prior to founding GTApreneurs, Tammy worked in a variety of employment and self-employment roles. Her self-employment roles included: Financial Security Advisor, Personal Fitness Trainer, Beverage Planner and Server for private parties, Avon and Yves Rocher Associates, the latter in her early 20’s.

Her employment roles included: English as a Foreign Language Instructor, Business Development Manager, Personal Fitness Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Fitness Supervisor, Fitness Instructor Trainer, Food and Beverage Supervisor, Assistant Manager, and server.

She has completed 3 years of university studies with a grade A average, including courses in business, science, math, English, reasoning skills, psychology, sociology, kinesiology and nutrition. She also completed the Canadian Funds Investment Course and the Life License Qualification Program at grade A level, as well as certifications as a Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Fitness Trainer and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist. Since starting GTApreneurs she has become highly knowledgeable and skilled in digital marketing, including website development, SEO and social media marketing.
